Spaix PipeCalc provides the functionality of duty point calculation for the hydraulic selection of centrifugal pumps.
The software contains the quantity determination for different applications according to international standards, e. g. for wastewater on the basis of DIN EN 12056 and for drinking water on the basis of DIN 1988. Moreover, the program contains the friction loss calculation for unbranched systems. Thereby, users can choose between the calculation methods according to Colebrook or Hazen-Williams.
Since mid 2009 Spaix PipeCalc is also available as web-based tool covering the complete functionality of the proven Windows-based version as well as new features. VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE reacts with its latest further development to the increased demand for web-based applications. The stand-alone version enables users to calculate the flow rate for different applications as well as the friction loss in unbranched systems. As add-on tool for the Spaix V3 PumpSelector the program reliably determines the required duty point of centrifugal pumps.
As alternative option to the Windows-based version - which has provided a crucial benefit for its users for a long time - VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE early starts developing the online module called Spaix EasyPipeCalc. The first generation of the web-based calculation module still had a limited functionality in comparison to the Windows-based application whereas the latest development is equipped with much more comprehensive features.
Functionality of Web Version
Flow Rate Determination For sewage water, drinking water and storm water a comprehensive determination of the total flow in consideration of many different parameters is available. During the complete flow determination international standards are taken into account.
The flow rate determination for sewage water occurs corresponding to EN 12056 and DIN 1986. The program calculates the required volume flow according to several drainage facilities, type of building and type of pipe system. Alternatively, the flow rate can be determined with the help of population size and specific peak flow.
The calculation of storm water amounts also uses EN 12056 and DIN 1986. Statistical values for rainfall are already stored in the database. The calculation can be carried out for different types of drainage areas.
For drinking water, the peak flow is determined corresponding to DIN 1988 in consideration of the simultaneity of water extraction. The user chooses from default data of different types of building usages as well as drinking water extraction points.
Calculation of Total Head and Flow The calculation of the pressure loss in unbranched pipe line systems is the main task of the second program function. The calculation can be effected using either of the models of COLEBROCK or HAZEN WILLIAMS.
Number and structure of available pipe systems can be provided by the user. The following are examples of the selection options: - Standard piping
- Line system
- Submersible pump system
- Cooling system
- Drinking water supply system
- Closed circulation system
- Parallel operation
By clicking the calculation keys the user can determine the elements of every single line consisting of pipes, elbows, transitions, valves and other fittings. The resulting single losses and total loss of the respective line are calculated simultaneous. The calculation is based on a freely expandable database with single elements. For the calculation of the pressure loss in valves and fittings different requirements can be set, for instance ζ or kv value or functional dependence on ζ(v) or Hv(Q).
Determination of Preferable Components With this feature frequently used pipe system components can be directly displayed on the main screen of the application. The pipe configuration is carried out with fewer inputs what allows a more efficient use of the software. The preferred pipe elements will be defined within the data maintenance program.
Allocation of Certain Pipelines to Specified User Groups Pipe data can differ for several markets due to divergent standards. Because of the integration with the Spaix PumpSelector only appropriate data are displayed corresponding to the active user profile.
High-Quality Graphical Presentation of Characteristic Pipes Depending on the system architecture the pipe system is divided in different sub-systems (e.g. Suction side and discharge side). The sub-systems are clearly displayed in a tree structure. Additionally, they can be graphically selected with the mouse cursor from the system sketch for editing.
Datasheet Generation All input data and calculation results are summarized on a datasheet what ensures the documentation of the system dimensioning.
